Muriel L. Hartley
1927-2023
Muriel dedicated her life to education, music and her Church, leaving an indelible mark on the Centreville area. She was a passionate and devoted teacher in elementary schools, touching the lives of countless students with her wisdom and guidance. Her love for music was equally profound, as she served as the organist for the Tracey Mills United Baptist Church for an incredible 46-plus years, gracing numerous church services, school programs, weddings and funerals with her musical talents.
Born to the late Llewelyn White and Eva (Hatheway) White, Muriel was predeceased by her beloved husband, Eric, her son Michael, and granddaughters Tara, Allyson, and Meredith. She also joins her infant sister, Georgia; her brothers Ray, Wendell, Lester and Ted in eternal rest.
Muriel leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her sons Ted (Linda), Mark (Marilyn), Jim (Nelien) and her daughter Wendy, who carry on her spirit and passion. Her sister in law, Marie White, she also survived by nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom have been touched by her warmth, kindness, and love.
Muriel's life was a testament to the power of education and music, and her legacy will live on through the many lives she has touched. Her kindness, unwavering dedication, and the beautiful melodies she shared will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held from the Tracey Mills United Baptist Church on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 12-2 pm. A memorial service to celebrate Muriel's life will follow at 2:30 pm from the church. The interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Tracey Mills United Baptist Church, Dun Roamin’ Stray and Rescue, or charity of donor’s choice, in Muriel's memory.
Muriel Louise Hartley will forever remain in our hearts, and her legacy will continue to inspire us all. May she rest in eternal peace.
